At Design Development, we know how important it is to our clients to create a sense of warmth and welcome in their homes year-round. Comfort, beauty, and a sense of well-being become especially meaningful during the holiday season, when we open our doors to friends and family.

May the BEST Renovation Win!

For many of our clients, a great home starts with a great kitchen. Design Development is proud to announce that the editors of Architectural Digest have handpicked one of our recent kitchen makeovers—Anne Dubbs's fit-to-perfection galley in the landmark Eldorado on Central Park West—as a finalist in their current online Before & After: AD-Reader Kitchens Contest.

We worked with Alexander Doherty Design to transform a dark, dated cavern into an inviting, high-efficiency workspace with a place for everything from a quiet, energy-wise dishwasher to an in-house wine cellar and multitasking breakfast/work area.

The editors of Architectural Digest will present the winning project in a special online feature.

We'd love to share the details of this inspiring makeover with you, so please visit AD's site, and vote for this classic New York City kitchen!

DDNYC Neighbors
With more than 20 years of experience in the general contracting and construction management business, we know that the best-laid plans can go awry when Nature has her way. That reality hit close to home this autumn, when Sandy, a storm of historic proportions, wreaked havoc across the Jersey Shore, Staten Island, the Rockaways, and countless communities in between.

Our hearts go out to our friends and neighbors in these areas, who lost homes and suffered devastating property damage in the storm. Since early November, Design Development has been volunteering on the scene, bringing our expertise as well as donated construction materials where they are most needed, fixing places up, and installing features that will improve future safety.

In all of our new construction projects, our contractors know taking a few extra steps in installing HVAC systems, insulation and mold barriers—even stilts, where necessary—can help prevent heartache later.

Our collaboration with designer ALEXANDER DOHERTY is featured in the December/January 2013 issue, p64-73, of HOUSE BEAUTIFUL. See "A Soulful Manhattan Apartment with Rich Moody Color," with text by Douglas Brenner and photographs by Francesco Lagnese, on housebeautiful.com.
