BUILT-IN STORAGE AND AN ECO-FRIENDLY FIREPLACE BRING WARMTH AND ORGANIZATION TO A STYLISH TRIBECA LOFT
Situated in the former NYC headquarters of the US Rubber Company, this industrial-era loft now serves as the Tribeca condominium apartment of a young Manhattan couple. To bring organization and contemporary comfort to the cavernous, circa 1929 interior, Design Development reconfigured interior walls to create private spaces without blocking light. A new bookcase/media center wall now runs the length of the main living area, where a clean-burning bio-fuel fireplace from EcoSmart supplies an interior focal point. Adjacent to the master bedroom, a new walk-in closet/dressing area and luxurious bath contribute to the comfort of the couple’s private suite, while a new half-bath serves guests.

CAPTURING THE VIEWS, INSIDE HL23
Clean-lined luxury defines this 2-bedroom, 2-bath condominium on the High Line, in West Chelsea’s arts district. Improvements to the newly constructed apartment—located in architect Neil M. Denari’s HL23—include custom millwork, custom-mix paints by Farrow & Ball, and interior lighting designed to set the mood and highlight the owners’ growing collection of contemporary art. Crafted by artisans in Design Development NYC’s own workshops, a new built-in bar area and media wall of matchbooked walnut veneer artfully elevate the interior’s warmth and functionality. From the open kitchen to the custom lacquered-wood desk with leather blotter, also crafted by Design Development NYC, every angle captures a view—inside and out.

Central Park West
GUT RENOVATION OF A CLASSIC PREWAR
This prewar co-op is located in the Ardsley, one of architect Emery Roth’s iconic additions to Central Park West. The 3-bedroom, 2-bath apartment makes the most of the 1931 structure’s picturesque location, while renovating its outdated interior with a custom-built galley kitchen, new master bath, and new interior doors, fireplace surround, and millwork inspired by the building’s Art Deco roots—all custom-crafted by Design Development’s artisan woodworkers. Designer Alexander Doherty worked with the client to create a bright interior that reflects the owner’s desire to work at home as well as entertain family and friends in a comfortable, contemporary environment.

ONE-ROOM STUDY/GUEST ROOM | KIPS BAY DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE
In a modern interpretation of the traditional gentleman’s library, cerused-oak paneling, fabricated in our New York City shops, transforms a white-walled bedroom from characterless box to peaceful sanctuary. The oversized-block pattern shows off the wood’s handsome grain and gives order to a display of fine art.
The pale-colored wood reflects light and absorbs sound, instilling the room with a sense of warmth and seclusion sometimes missing from apartments in contemporary glass towers.

Improving the flow, but keeping the charm, of an oddly angled prewar.
Design Development configured custom built-ins to follow the angles of the prewar apartment’s quirkily shaped rooms, adding to the interior’s one-of-a-kind character. A monochromatic palette creates a cocoon effect in both the study and the media room.
